Admissions & Guidelines


  • 1.1 Courses open to all
    The courses offered by this Directorate are open to all the citizens of India who are residing in India. Registration cannot be claimed as a matter of right and the Directorate reserves all rights of admission / acceptance. Registration will be made only for such courses as notified by Directorate.
  • 1.2 Students already registered for other courses are not eligible
    Students pursuing any other course (s) of study in this University or elsewhere either regular, correspondence, external or Open University scheme, are not eligible for admission to any of the courses offered by the Directorate, since they are not permitted to pursue two courses simultaneously.
  • 1.3 Students who have passed the supplementary examination of the course are Eligible
    Candidates who have passed the AISSCE Examination in COMPARTMENT examination, SUBSEQUENT TO THE annual examination of April/ May 2011 conducted by the CBSE, Universities and other competent boards are also eligible for admission to any 1st year UG degree course during 2011-12.
  • 1.4 Filling the Applications forms
    Application forms should be duly filled in completely. Documents to be submitted for registration in respect of the courses are mentioned in application form. Applications shall be submitted along with the Photo copies of Certificates along with fee receipts for having remitted original demand drafts, to the Finance Officer, BUB.
  • 1.5 Fee once paid is not refundable
    The present admission pack is valid only for the year 2011-12. Fee once paid by students to a course IS NOT REFUNDABLE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, or can be adjusted for any other course offered by the Directorate and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained.
  • 1.6 Procedure for admission
    All the Candidates are required to appear in person, for registration along with the following documents/requirements:
    • (a) For all Categories of students
      • i) Two Passport Size recent photographs for affixing on various forms or documents.
      • ii) Original Marks Cards of qualifying examination: for verification and return.
      • iii) Original Caste Certificate - if applicable: for verification and Return.
      • iv) Original Service Certificate - if applicable [Refer 6.4 (b) (i)]
      • v) Proof of Age for seeking admission under Open University Scheme (Refer 10.8)
      • vi) Original Transfer Certificate-if available
      • vii) Original Migration Certificate if applicable.
      • viii) No Objection Certificate issued from the previous Institution (Refer10.11)
      • ix) One set of photocopies of all the marks cards & Caste Certificate for retention
      • x) One self addressed envelope.
      • xi) Official receipt issued by Finance officer, BUB for having received Demand draft purchased in any nationalized bank for the prescribed fee drawn in favour of 'The Finance Officer, Bangalore University, Bangalore', purchased only after publication of Admission Notification and payable at State Bank of Mysore, Bangalore. (This is applicable to only such students who seek admission in the Directorate)

        Note: Applications will be rejected if the fee receipt is not enclosed.
  • 1.7 Method of Payment
    The Directorate will not accept cash from any student for any purpose, excepting through receipts for Crossed A/c payee Demand Draft, obtained from any of the Nationalized banks drawn in favor of the Finance Officer, Bangalore University, Bangalore and payable at State Bank of My sore, Bangalore. Students are advised to write their name, address, course and Telephone No. on the reverse side of the Demand Draft, to prove their bonafides, as its purchaser. They shall be deposited with Finance officer, BUB and official receipt obtained.
  • 1.8 Proof of Age and Date of Birth for students seeking admission under Open University Scheme
    • (a) Any one of the following documents are accepted as proof of age.
      • i) Original SSLC/ SSC marks card or Cumulative records/ Transfer Certificate containing date of birth.
      • ii) An extract from the admission register maintained in a school last attended and duly certified by the Head of the Institution concerned.
      • iii) Extracts from the records maintained by the Government or Semi Government institutions or from the Civic or Local Bodies.
      • iv) Passport.

        Note: Affidavits, Horoscopes and any other unofficial documents are not accepted as proof of age.
  • 1.9 Transfer Certificate / Migration Certificate
    A Student who joins a course in the Directorate has to submit his/her Original Transfer Certificate from institution studied earlier.

    Further, students, who have passed qualifying examination from the Universities outside the State of Karnataka, shall also submit Migration certificate along with Transfer Certificate within one month from the date of admission/ registration.

    Those who do not submit their Transfer Certificates at the time of admission shall submit (duly filled) Form 'C' (Supplied along with the application), which will be returned to them along with I.D. Card. Students must interact with their previous institution to obtain and furnish their Transfer Certificate within one month from date of their admission. Candidates who fail to submit Transfer Certificate within a month will not be allowed to attend the examinations.

    The Transfer Certificate, thus submitted will not be returned to the students even after the completion of the course or on discontinuation. Fresh TC will be issued only if they join any other Institution/ University on request by that Institution/ University and will be sent directly to the said Institution.
  • 1.10 For Students of Universities/ Boards other than Bangalore University/ Karnataka Boards:
    • i) Students who have passed the qualifying examination from any other University should produce Provisional/Degree Certificate and also submit a photocopy along with other documents at the time of registration.
    • ii) Students who have passed the qualifying examination from other Universities outside the State of Karnataka are required to pay the eligibility fee of Rs.1320/- in addition to other fee.
  • 1.11 Change / Transfer From Colleges / P. G. Departments and other Universities (Applicable only to the students registered WITH THE DIRECTORATE)
    • i) with prior permission of the University, Students who have discontinued their studies after passing the I Year /II year examination of B.A/B.Com/ M.A./ M.Sc. (Maths) / M.Com Degree Programmes (Annual Scheme) in affiliated Colleges or in Departments of Bangalore University, are eligible for admission to the second / third year of the respective courses under Correspondence scheme provided he / she is eligible to complete the course, as per the regulations of the University i.e., within the Maximum Duration Prescribed for each Course. Such Candidates should enclose with the application form:
      • a) No objection Certificate from the Institution Previously studied.
      • b) All the Marks Cards of the Course.
      • c) Transfer Certificate in Original.
      • d) Prescribed fee.
    • ii) Candidates who studied under semester scheme in colleges are permitted to register for subsequent years (annual scheme) under the Directorate for Correspondence Courses only if he / she has passed all the subjects of the previous semesters. They are also required to study and pass additional subjects of annual scheme if required, under rules.
    • iii) No candidate who has registered himself / herself for any course, under any scheme in the Directorate shall be permitted to enroll as regular student in a Department or a college (Both Day & Evening) in the middle of the course.
    • iv) Candidate who is admitted to a course, on transfer from any other Universities, shall have to study and pass subjects which are prescribed by this University. Such candidate shall however, be eligible for declaration of class only.
  • 1.12 Admission Provisional initially start with
    The admission made is provisional and they will be confirmed only on fulfillment of all necessary requirements including documents.
  • 1.13 Fake or Tampered Certificate/documents
    Students who submit fake or tampered Marks Cards/Certificates/Documents or Demand Drafts will invite disciplinary action as per the University procedures. Any student who is found to have concealed information about his/ her employment or violated any other provisions, is also liable to be removed from admission rolls forthwith, and will be deprived of the benefits of admission, examination, results, award of degree etc.., apart from initiating appropriate disciplinary action and imposition of stringent penalties.
  • 1.14 Yearly Registration Requirement
    Students should register during every succeeding academic year. Students can register for II & III year classes/ courses irrespective of their performance at the previous year examination.
